Workshops 2013 – Term 2
In our fun three hour film workshops children have the chance to learn about some of the basics of film making. Each session briefly explores a film genre through clips and discussion. We also focus on one aspect of filming that helps to bring that genre to life. Children then use this as a basis for making their own short film. Here are some examples:
Slapstick comedy focus on visual gags.
Dates: Sunday, 10am – 1pm, 3 Hours. Jan 20th. Ages 7-12.
This is a fun three hour film workshop, children will learn about camera angles, visual gags, story-boarding, they will be filming with industry standard cameras , they will be acting, directing, using sound equipment and lighting. They will work together to film a short slapstick comedy film. They will receive a copy of the film
later via the internet or on DVD. We can also upload the film to our private you-tube channel.
Science Fiction focus on costume design.
Dates: Sunday, 10am – 1pm, 3 Hours. Feb 24th. Ages 7-12.
Do you have a good idea how aliens look? Ever built a spaceship? Interested in Star Wars and Science Fiction? Interested in costume and set design? This could be the workshop for you!
Children investigate the theme of science fiction and costume design to create to special effects for their film. They will learn about the science fiction genre, costume and develop some special effects used in blockbuster movies. They will develop a plot and story board.
They will film with industry standard cameras and learn about camera angles, they will have the chance to record sound, act and direct. They will work together to film a short science fiction movie which they will later receive on DVD or via the internet. We can also upload the film to our private you-tube channel.
Spy Thriller workshop focus on Foley sound.
Dates: Sunday, 10am – 1pm, 3 Hours. Mar 10th. Ages 7-12.
In this workshop we will work together to film a short thrilling spy chase. Students will learn about camera angles, directing from a story board, acting, setting up a scene and developing a scene. They will learn about how the industry uses sound to add tension and use recording equipment to add sound to their film. They will later receive a copy of their film on DVD or via the internet. We can also upload the film to our private you-tube channel.
